Urinary incontinence suppose a hygienic and social problem; the WHO steems that 200 million people suffer from urinary incontinence. The first line management is medical treatment, however, when there is no improvement or when there is severe incontinence, gold standard is surgical treatment throught implantation of uretrhal slings. Nowadays, the available slings are the mini-slings and standard mid urethral slings that include retropubic and trasobturador techniques. For this reason, it had been done a review with the objective of providing information about cure rates, types of implantation techniques, complications and impact on the quality of life of urethral slings like treatment for uncomplicated stress urinary incontinence in women.
