LUGO, LUZ HELENA; GARCIA, HÉCTOR IVÁN y GOMEZ, CARLOS. QUALITY OF LIFE AND QUALITY OF LIFE RELATED HEALTH. Iatreia [online]. 2002, vol.15, n.2, pp.96-102. ISSN 0121-0793.
THE EXISTENT CONCEPTS ABOUT GENERAL Quality of life and Quality of life related health are revised. The first one is understood as what makes a better life, starting from hedonist theories of satisfaction of preferences and of the ideals of a good life. Terms like well-being, capacities, preferences, selfdetermination and autonomy are discussed in their connections with the quality of life. Quality of life related health is defined as that component of the general quality of life that is due to the conditions of attention in people's health and that is refered to starting from the subjective experiences of patients about their global health. Their relevance is both in ethics, in medical-decision making, and in the development of measures to evaluate the results of interventions.
