Abstract

THE PHYSIOPATHOLOGY OF AXONAL acute Guillain Barré syndrome is described. Five aspects are considered, namely: 1) Etiologic agents emphasizing on Campylobacter jejuni. 2) Human genetic predisposition. 3) Molecular mimicry between lipopolysaccharides and gangliosides. 4) Mechanisms of action of antiganglioside antibodies and, 5) Pathologic findings.
