Abstract

VELEZ FERNANDEZ, Mauricio; SALAZAR MARTINEZ, Gloria Isabel  and  MONTOYA RAMIREZ, Julio César. Conjunctival resection as management of superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis: report of three cases. Iatreia [online]. 2012, vol.25, n.2, pp.169-173. ISSN 0121-0793.

Superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis is rarely reported in Medellín, Colombia, where it is underdiagnosed or often mistaken for other diseases such as the dry eye syndrome. We present the cases of three women with this disease who were successfully managed with resection of a portion of the superior bulbar conjunctiva and the underlying Tenon's capsule; improvement was achieved of the irritative symptoms and the cosmetic appearance. We emphasize on the need for clinical suspicion of this disease and on its surgical management.

Keywords : Case Reports; Conjunctiva; Keratoconjunctivitis.
