Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) persists as a public health problem, cause it association with many aspects, including infection with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), the precarious living conditions, the multidrug resistance that affects the control of the chains transmission. Objectives: The aim of this study is identify the beliefs and attitudes about TB in health workers from a town of Bogotá. Methodology: Cross-sectional study, based on the application of an instrument to 202 health workers during the period from March to August 2010. Results: It was found that 32% of health workers consider the transmission of the disease until 2-3 weeks of starting treatment. 25% of participants reported that the disease continues to be transmitted with treatment. 48.5% of health workers answered that they were comfortable with the care of a patient with TB and 51.5% are undecided and / or would not feel right. Preliminary data showed that erroneous beliefs and attitudes persist in relation to TB, which can affect the early detection and treatment adherence. Salud UIS 2011; 43(1): 57-61.
