Abstract

ROJAS BETANCUR, Mauricio  and  MENDEZ VILLAMIZAR, Raquel. Pregnancy in adolescents: a quantitative scale social reading. Rev. Univ. Ind. Santander. Salud [online]. 2016, vol.48, n.1, pp.82-90. ISSN 0121-0807.  https://doi.org/10.18273/revsal.v48n1-2016009.

Nowadays, pregnancy in teenagers is considered as a critical public health issue due to its individual and colective implications related to pregnancy at early age meaning. Biological age borderlines of adolescence and the comprehensive growth stage represent a challenge for social and health assessments, This article aims to analyze pregnancy rates in adolescents taking international, national and regional data about this event in the Metropolitan Area of Bucaramanga. The analysis shows the disparity between measurements from different sources and the scarce information available in the city. It is noted that these indicators report little about this reality (which has become a normal consequence of social interactions), specially in the fields of education, health, economical status, family functionality and emotional situation

Keywords : Adolescents; pregnancy; reproductive health.
