Abstract

MORAGA VALLE, Fabio. LATIN-AMERICAN STUDENT CONFERENCE OF SANTIAGO: ANTI-IMPERIALISM AND INDOAMERICANISM IN THE CHILEAN STUDENT MOVEMENT (1935-1940). hist.crit. [online]. 2012, n.47, pp.187-213. ISSN 0121-1617.

The Latin-American Student Conference was held in Santiago de Chile in October of 1937. During this event, the communist proposals of the "proletarian internationalism" and the "indoamericanism" of the American Popular Revolutionary Alliance (apra) were confronted. Our hypothesis is that in Chile the most intense debates regarding these projects took place more through the student movement than through the formal political system. To do this we analyze the political and ideological discourse appearing in national student magazines and newspapers regarding this congress.

Keywords : Latin-America; Student movement; youth, socialism; student conferences; Chile.
