FIGUEROA, Claudio Tapia. Chile's Post-War Policy in the Pacific: Power, Influence and Relations with Ecuador. hist.crit. [online]. 2017, n.64, pp.121-139. ISSN 0121-1617. https://doi.org/10.7440/histcrit64.2017.07.
How was South American politics transformed at the end of the war in the Pacific? What role did Ecuador play in that scenario? These questions establish the objective of this article: the study of Chile's foreign policy once the war in the Pacific was over and the consequent reordering took place. It thus seeks to demonstrate that post-war Chile moved from the use of hard power (military force) to a policy of influence (soft power), the most evident case being the exertion of its power over Ecuador. Primary sources -mainly diplomatic documents and discourses- and secondary sources were used for this purpose.
