STEWART, Daniel M.  e  ROCK NUNEZ, María Esperanza. Local Responses to the Global Policy of the Spanish Empire: Indigenous Land Tenure in Chile in the XVII Century. hist.crit. [online]. 2018, n.69, pp.115-135. ISSN 0121-1617.  https://doi.org/10.7440/histcrit69.2018.07.

This article reviews, through three case studies, how the global policy used by the Spanish Empire was experienced in its colonies of the South Sea. The events in the south border of the Empire were observed specifically (with a focus on the Bishopric of Concepcion, Chile), in relation to the indigenous land tenure in the Captaincy of Chile during the XVII century. In the analysis of the cases presented in the article, it can observed how the human and commercial relations were established -which can still be seen in Chilean society-, evidencing the influence of global history on the local, and vice versa.

Palavras-chave : colonial; Chile; land tenure; border; commercial interchange.
