Abstract

BLANCO BLANCO, Jacqueline. THE COLOR REVOLUTION AND THE LIMITATION OF THE POLITICAL RIGHTS TO THE COLOMBIAN PEOPLE DURING THE EARLY REPUBLIC. Prolegómenos [online]. 2017, vol.20, n.40, pp.77-95. ISSN 0121-182X.  https://doi.org/10.18359/prole.3042.

The theme of this article relates to the rights given to the Colombian people during the first years of republicanism. The topic refers to a political struggle within the social conglomerate, a scenario where republicanism had granted them the status of citizens and subject of rights, and thus it reserved to itself the access to political participation based on racial issues. The formulated question is: ¿Why did the Colombian Republic in its early constitutionalism overlook the access to political rights of all the people governed? At the end, it will be displayed that the transition from both colony to republic and vassal to citizen condition, left as evidence a set of political fears that prevented the democratization of power to favor their monopoly on creole's hands. This assertion is made possible through the use of structuralism as a work method.

Keywords : Rights; political participation; representation; race; exclusion.
