This article analyzes international migration in Latin America, starting from the elements highlighted in international migration, where factors such as politics and economy determine the guidelines that must be part of migration. As an example, what has happened in Mexico in recent decades is described. Additionally, the words refugee and asylum are also conceptualized with the purpose of establishing whether it is possible to access these protections from the perspective of human rights and fundamental rights, as some rights are granted because of being human and others because of being citizens.
