Abstract
ARIZA TRASLAVINA, Leidy Bibiana; TORRES ROMERO, Lady Johana and BLANCO MARTINEZ, Diego Alexander. Adsorption Kinetics of 2-Nitrophenol from Aqueous Solution on Activated Carbon. rev. cienc. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp.65-75. ISSN 0121-1935. https://doi.org/10.25100/rc.v20i2.4674.
The kinetic constants of 2-nitrophenol adsorption from aqueous solution were determined on two samples of activated carbon lignocellulosic origin (CAP) and of mineral origin (CAG), kinetic models using pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order, in order to characterize the interaction between the aqueous solution and solid and evaluating the texture and chemical characteristics of carbonaceous samples for adsorption of 2-nitrophenol. The results for the pelletized activated carbon (PAC), in accordance with the kinetic model of pseudo second order, obtaining a value for K1 = 1.31 x 10 -4 (g / (mg × min)) and finding a value for the maximum amount Hold for 2-nitrophenol qm = 33.78 mg / g; in the case of granular activated carbon (GAC) data to kinetic model of pseudo second order were adjusted to give a value for the constant K2 = 1.20 x 10-4 (g / (mg × min)) and the maximum amount retained for 2-nitrophenol qm = 35.21 mg / g, which makes evident that the texture and chemistry of the carbonaceous material modified the solid-solution interaction.
