Metrology is the discipline that studies the measurements and its applications in different areas of science and technology. The need to report and establish accurate and reliable measurements in biological and health sciences has conducted to these areas to adopt norms and guidelines of metrology in massive manufacturing, services to users, basic and applied research, and technology development, even up defining a new subscience called Biometrology. A general review of concepts about traceability and uncertainty, as well as the background, scope and importance of this new science branch is presented in this work to obtain a complete and integral overview of challenges, perspectives and application of Biometrology.
