Abstract

LOAIZA CERON, Wilmar; REYES TRUJILLO, Aldemar  and  CARVAJAL ESCOBAR, Yesid. Model for the Monitoring and Follow-up of Sustainability Indicators for Water Resources in the Agricultural Sector. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.2, pp.77-89. ISSN 0121-215X.

The monitoring and follow-up system makes it possible to identify the sustainability of water resources in the agricultural sector of the Centella watershed (Dagua-Valle del Cauca), through indicators and indexes. This monitoring model allows for continuous and systematic evaluation of the progress and changes brought about by the execution of a series of activities during a certain period of time. Likewise, the system makes it possible to follow up and verify to what extent the established sustainability goals for water resources in the agricultural sector are met, at the biophysical, technological, political-institutional, and socioeconomic levels.

Keywords : sustainability index; watershed; monitoring; water resources management; agricultural production systems.
