Abstract

BUZAI, Gustavo D. Fronteras en el ciberespacio: el nuevo mapa mundial visto desde Buenos Aires (Argentina). Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.2, pp.85-92. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v23n2.38088.

Internet, the network of networks, was created according to the perspective of decentralization. However, its material development presents an extremely hierarchical space. Through the application of spatial analysis procedures, a cartography was produced of the new world map of cyberspace as seen from Buenos Aires (Argentina), a space that is appropriate for new explorations and also offers geopolitical possibilities. The article verifies the appearance of new borders between central and peripheral countries, deriving from access to the network, a fact that increases the fragmentation of the connection among Latin American countries. Changing this situation is a challenge for the future.

Keywords : spatial analysis; cyberspace; cybergeography; cybermap; Internet.
