Abstract
LOYOLA GOMEZ, Christian; RIVAS MALDONADO, Juan and GACITUA ROJAS, María José. Soil Permeability in the Chillán River Basin, between Estero Peladillas and the Ñuble River, Chile. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.1, pp.73-86. ISSN 0121-215X. https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v24n1.41679.
Due to increased human settlement of the territory, the analysis of soil permeability of the basin appears as a variable to consider in studies of flood risk. To this effect, the methodology proposed by FAO to predict hydraulic behavior was applied to the soil. Said methodology has been validated by preceding studies focused on granulometry, porosity, and texture. The results made it possible to identify the basin's permeability zones. The size of the area made it necessary to use a GIS tool; however, this tool discards specific features which need to be incorporated into the measurement.
