Abstract

PORCARO, Tania. Tourism and Borders: Literature Review and Conceptual Contributions from Geography. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.2, pp.13-29. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.154467rcdg.v26n2.59234.

The relationship between tourism and borders has seen renewed academic interest over the last decades. This paper presents a literature review on this theme, with particular focus on geographical studies, and identifies some major lines of research as well as the main theoretical contributions. Whereas most of the articles focus on a particular case study, some of them make an effort to conceptualize the knowledge produced. However, these contributions do not always incorporate the new approaches on tourism and border studies. Nevertheless, some research has begun to trace some new arguments to re-think the relationship between tourism and borders.

Keywords : boundary; geography; geopolitics; border; tourism.
