Abstract

MUNOZ ARROYAVE, Elkin Argiro. Postcard Territory: The Duality of Tourism in Santa Fe de Antioquia, Colombia. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2017, vol.26, n.2, pp.153-174. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v26n2.59237.

Tourism is seen by some social actors as an activity that drives economic growth, but they ignore that it is a phenomenon capable of transforming the territory. The objective of this article is to analyze the incidence of the tourist imaginaries on the territorial transformation of Santa Fe de Antioquia. The qualitative methodology is used, based on interviews, visits to the municipality and the analysis of photographs and images on tourism, to investigate the presence of a “postcard territory”, a concept proposed to identify territorial transformations by tourism. The study concludes that tourism influences local times, the organization of space and the behavior of local actors in Santa Fe de Antioquia.
