CASTRO MARTINEZ, Enrique de Jesús. Contribution to the Thought of David Harvey: the Logic of Capital in the Production of Urban Space. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.1, pp.177-193.  Epub 07-Mar-2024. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v32n1.90853.

This article analyzes the capitalist production of space under the second epistemological approach developed by David Harvey in his academic career. It uses two qualitative methodologies: the first one includes a historical-geographical analysis that allowed knowing the epistemological approaches in Harvey's conception, and the second corresponds to a review of his literary work after the seventies, dedicated to studying the production of the space of capital. The results comprise three theses. First, it responds to the transmutation suffered by space as a means of capital to stimulate its accumulation, favoring the absorption of surplus in multiple space scales, promoting various necessary contradictions to survive. Secondly, it includes the adaptation of space, in terms of its instrumental contents within neoliberal policies with corporate approach. Finally, it proposes that the relationship between capital and state promotes the formation of new urban imaginaries to promote the commodification of urban space. The article concludes that the production of the space of capital links multiple postulates under the productive guide of Harvey's thought.
