Geogr. [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.2, pp.409-423.  Epub 19-Mar-2024. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v32n2.103994.

The global pandemic of COVID-19 has made visible multiple phenomena that remained latent, but had not manifested themselves in the daily life of urban life. From the event that led to the irruption of this new virus, the consolidation of an essentially digital life that modifies social dynamics in a world that is already hyper-digitalized arises. This article analyzes the recent pandemic in line with the potentialization of the use of social networks and its impact on different spheres of the daily life of young people in the city of Bucaramanga during the year 2020, focusing attention on the phenomenon of the infodemic and its link with mental health. The methodology used is qualitative with an interpretative orientation. The hermeneutic approach guides the analysis of the information that comes from the experience of 80 students of the academic program of History and Archival Studies of the Universidad Industrial de Santander. It is concluded that the pandemic, together with the digital phenomena that manifested from it, decisively influenced the mental health of the young people who participated in the study, who understand this event as a destabilizing event of daily life that gave new meanings to the usual conception of "normality".
