Abstract

NOGUERA-RAMIREZ, Carlos Ernesto. Anthropotechnic" Education: An Approach to the Concept by Peter Sloterdijk. Pedagogía y Saberes [online]. 2017, n.47, pp.23-30. ISSN 0121-2494.

The present article is an advance of an earlier investigation that aimed to re-read and re-write the history of pedagogy using the methodological notion of governmentality coined by Foucault in his 1978 course, Security, Territory, Population. In particular, the paper aims to explore the concept of anthropotechnics by German philosopher Peter Sloterdijk and to articulate it to Foucault's and Hadot's discussions on the transformation of the philosophy understood as spiritual exercises and, from there, to question certain contemporary pedagogical discourses focused on the criticism of discipline. The article is organized in two parts, investigating the historical relations between philosophy and pedagogy, as well as the place of anthropotechnics in the processes of training (domestication) of human beings.

Keywords : Pedagogy; philosophy; ascesis; discipline; Paideia.
