This research paper points out the necessity of (re)thinking pedagogy in Colombia, related to two sceneries that allowed its historical configuration: teacher training and educational research. Based on the review of legislation, institutional documents and journal articles, the text develops three parts: in the first one, the author reviews some elements of the institutionalization of pedagogy in Francophone and German-speaking contexts that function as referents to think about this proposal. Second, there is a balance about the way in which teacher training in the country was configured, as well as on the ways in which educational research was instituted. Finally, some conclusions and projections are pointed out as to what pedagogy means today.
