In the face of the national and international challenges and troubles, this text seeks to reflect on the contemporary sense of Pedagogy and its struggle to achieve the education processes of individuals. Beginning from a brief consideration of its history in Mexico and its lack of clarity on its status in our country, we allude to Bildung as an exemplary concept that may allow us to broad the meaning of Pedagogy’s study object: education. Based on the theses of Reinhart Koselleck and Walter Benjamin´s as a starting point, this article studies the differences and proximities among Bildung, education and formation, highlighting the similarities and differences. Even though, there may be discrepancies, we believe that it is possible to affirm that the different Latin-American views share the same objective: the idea that human formation is Pedagogy’s objective, not its mercantilization of education, which has become a popular perspective and one of the antitheses to the pedagogic spirit. Finally, this article concludes with a defense of a dialectic idea of Pedagogy that cares, aims and springs from the educative processes.
