The Family is the first educational institution, its dynamic mediation the learning and development of its members, the objective of this investigation is analyze the influence of the family in the education of children schooled in Costa Azul community of Sincelejo city (Colombia). For the study took into account the social, economic, cultural and educational environment of family and the identification of the visions, meanings, and expectations respect their children's education. To approach used to court ethnographic qualitative method, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques. The results show that parents attach importance to their children education from their visions, expectations and meanings, but lacked of necessary conditions to advance the process; their educationalpractices, resources, habits, time, responsibilities are limited, becoming an obstacle to successfully develop the learning of children.
