Since 1995 the European Union began negotiations for an Association Agreement with MERCOSUR, althoug, the Central American integration process has been finally the first block to agree an association agreement with the European Union, as the first partnership agreement and inter-regional therefore. This encompasses three pillars: political dialogue, trade and investment and development cooperation. This is an agreement that leaves no one indifferent, not only by what his differences with the dr-cafta, but openness to new markets that meet the needs of some, while other problems worse. Whatever the case, it is the first interregional association agreement in history that will undoubtedly serve as a model for all subsequent between the European Union and mercOSUR the Community, the ASEAN and the gcc.
