Abstract

This paper analyzes the various attempts on this island to proclaim an Autonomous Government Board, which found a strong opposition on the big local landowners, allied to the Crown; these proprietary even called "enemies of national integrity" to supporters of independence. The paper also describes the attempt of Havana's elites to add their country to the United States in case that Spain's independence was successful.
