Abstract The objective of the study was to identify the socio-economic conditions of the undergraduate students of the Universidad de Pamplona from a demographic, social and economic perspective. The methodology used was descriptive with a mixedapproach. The study consistedof apopulation of25,561 undergraduate students enrolled (Campus: Pamplona, Cúcuta and Villa del Rosario) in the first half of 2012, with a representative sample of 1,633 students. Findings showed that the studentpopulation came from economically disad-vantaged families (Strata 1 and 2; 88.79 %) and that the sources offunding related to tuition fees and studies were based on family and personal income (73.5 %) . This research allowed the characterization of the Universidad de Pamplona student population with the purpose to subsequently promote internal policies, develop plans and actions in accordance with the needs of the student community.
