The main idea of this paper is to identify the management patterns of university research according to the most outstanding models that characterize Research and Development structures (R+D) in Colombian universities; and also to analyze the most typical research administration processes In countries with low scientific absorption, highlighting the case of Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.
