Abstract

ZUNIGA LINAN, Luis Carlos. Sensationalist radio reception in young people from Cartagena de Indias. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.2, pp.237-257. ISSN 0121-3261.

This article is the result of a research that investigates the influence of social experience on young people between 20 and 24 years of age, of the significance of the messages broadcasted by sensationalist radio newscasts in Cartagena de Indias (Colombia). To achieve this, the article articulates the categories of the Symbolic Interactionism theory from the vision of George Mead and Herbert Blumer, through a qualitative approach that seeks to identify the discursive associations. The results were crossed with the intention of the sender of the message, allowing to find that the characteristic language of these formats does not always generate a process of mutual influence.

Keywords : Broadcast journalism; sensationalism; social experience; symbolic interaction; young people; Cartagena de Indias; Colombia.
