Abstract
AVENDANO CASTRO, William Rodrigo and AGUILAR RODRIGUEZ, Daniel E. Geopolitics and environment: a review at the problem of environmental refugees. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.2, pp.283-308. ISSN 0121-3261.
This article aims to provide an idea of the displacement condition from the environmental standpoint, involving anthropogenic factors causing damages and loss. For this purpose, a serious conceptual review was developed covering the environmental displacement as a global problem, enhancing the international legal regime incorporating it, and having as a basis the international human rights, it is also the purpose of this work to understand the environmental geopolitics in economic, cultural and environmental aspects resulting from this situation. Due to all this, it’s understandable that environmental degradation is a major cause of population displacement to ensure their survival. Thus, the extension of the legal regime would ensure the effectiveness, in terms of international cooperation concerning the access to action measures for all kinds of disasters, and extend the framework of environmental geopolitics to benefit displaced populations.
