Abstract

DODDS, Tomás  and  GARCIA DEL RIO, Felipe. Assessing the link between televisión consumption and the attitudes toward people living with HIV/AIDSin Chile. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2017, vol.25, n.1, pp.6-22. ISSN 0121-3261.  https://doi.org/10.14482/indes.25.1.10225.

Abstract We analyze the link between media consumption and the attitudes toward people living with HIV/AIDS in Chile. We used data from a sample of 1000 people, obtained in the 2011 wave of the World Values Survey (WVS). We use a logistic binary regression model by maximum likelihood. Our results suggest that the way TV news handles information related to AIDS can help reducing discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS.

Keywords : VIH/AIDS; media consumption; television; social representation.
