Abstract

CAMARGO CARDENAS, David  and  LADINO YAGUE, Adriana. Historical Review (1920-2017) of legislative acceptance of international standards on non-discrimination against women in Colombia: a proposal. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2017, vol.25, n.1, pp.165-191. ISSN 0121-3261.  https://doi.org/10.14482/indes.25.1.10233.

Abstract This paper compares the promulgation of International legislation on non-discrimination against women with its incorporation in the Colombian law during the 1920-2017 period; it proposes four major divisions: a) before 1948; b) 1948-1966; c) 1966-1979; d) after 1979. This study differs from the traditional point of view explaining evolution of Colombian law as an exclusive result of internal social and historical processes. The Colombian Law follows international legislation but, in practice, equal rights for women are not a reality. The main area which falls behind is Labour Law.

Keywords : Civil and political rights; Law; History; Colombia; Women.
