Abstract

ISOGLIO, Antonela. The knowledge-based economy: conceptual discussions on the changes that have occurred on a global scale since the 1970s. Investig. desarro. [online]. 2021, vol.29, n.2, pp.169-195.  Epub May 01, 2022. ISSN 0121-3261.  https://doi.org/10.14482/indes.29.2.330.

This review article offers a journey about the notions built in the social sciences to understand the nature and magnitude of the transformations of capitalist society observed since the mid-1970s. In this sense, interpretations can be found that range from a change of cycle or phase to a new epoch. Among the most outstanding conceptualizations is the knowledge-based economy. However, against this conceptual framework, various theories were generated and consolidated to understand the nature of the great changes that occurred in light of the historical transformations of capitalism, one of which has recently been developed in Latin America. This work represents a specific access point to the question of the dynamics of the capitalist totality in the last third of the 20th century.

Keywords : knowledge economy; technoeconomic paradigms; cognitive capitalism; informational capitalism.
