This article addresses the contours of consumer citizenship from a case study (that of the University of Ibague), with the purpose of a more in-depth look at the differences between the formalist formulations of citizen education and the experiences of university actors. This research combined the application of several instruments: first, a survey of a representative sample of the university; second, the construction of general categories based on the results of said instrument; and third, the development of focus groups with students, teachers, administrators, and managers to discuss the results and the presentation of said results in various spaces of the university. All these processes were subjected to discussion and reflection that combined techniques such as content analysis, with descriptive statistics techniques, as well as a review of related literature. After listening and understanding the perspective of588participants, of which 360 were students and 228 were officials (60 teachers and 168 administrative personnel). Finally, this study shows that in addition to being able to describe an approach of the members of the University, it is concluded that citizenship is conceived through civic, clearly representative norms
