Abstract

JARAMILLO MARIN, Jefferson. The Basis of a Politics of Just Memory. Estud.filos [online]. 2012, n.46, pp.41-59. ISSN 0121-3628.

With the expression, politics of just memory, the French thinker Paul Ricoeur elaborates an ambitious philosophical project of representation of the past. It is a project structured around three elements: the duty of memory, history's work, and the duty of justice. This article shows some of Ricoeur's proposals on Politics of just memory, which involves retrieving and using the past, as well as thinking critically about abuses in the present, in addition to finding a sense of justice and promise in just memory.

Keywords : Ricoeur; Memory; Oblivion; History; Justice; Hermeneutics.
