This paper analyzes Schopenhauer's theory of perception and its psychological background. To this end, it will attend to the fruitful discussion about sensation and perception, which is considered one of the most important issues in modern psychology. In this way, Schopenhauer proposes perception as brain representation, a notion that Gestalt Psychology will assume at the beginning of 20th century.

Keywords : object; intuition; sensation; perception; brain-imaging; causation.
