Salmonellosis is a disease caused by bacteria, genera Salmonella, famlily Enterobacteriaceae; which is important in pigs. The presence of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium causes necrotizing enterocolitis and Salmonella choleraesuis causes septicemic form characterized by hepatitis, pneumonia and cerebral vasculitis. Incorrect use of antibiotics, including subdosifying as well as unique therapy and in other cases preventive use of antibiotics has lead to the development of antibiotic resistance. The aim of this work is assess the antibiotic resistance of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium isolated from pig farms at different production steps in the Department of Tolima.
