Abstract
RAMOS-PAEZ, René M. and VASQUEZ-TORRES, Walter. Digestibility of phosphorus from animal ingredients used in diets for cachama (Piaractus brachypomus). Orinoquia [online]. 2012, vol.16, suppl.1, pp.155-161. ISSN 0121-3709.
An experiment was conducted to determine the apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC) of phosphorus for cachama (Piaractus brachypomus) form three primary materials of animal origin: fish meal, meat and bone meal and blood meal. For each ingredient an experimental ration was developed, composed of 69.5% semi purified reference diet, 30% of the primary material and 0.5% chromium oxide used as inert marker. In the experiment 90 juveniles of 187.82 g ± 13.45 of weight, were used and placed in a rectangular tank of 12 m2. The respective experimental diet was provided twice a day for a period of time of seven days with a continuous water flow of 8-12 L/minute rate and permanent areation to ensure oxygen levels above 60% of saturation, the seventh day after the morning ration, the animals were caught and randomly distributed into nine conical tanks of 200 L (10 fish / tank) to carry out the feces collection. The materials collected from three tanks formed a repetition of three for each treatment. The nutrient content and phosphorus in the ingredients and feces were determined by conventional bromatological analysis methods and by the colorimetric method of vanadomolybdofosfórico acid, respectively. The phosphorus content was 1.25% in meat and bone meal, 0.83% in fish meal and 0.26% in the blood meal and CDA to 76.69%, 75.67% and 6.36% respectively.
