Abstract

MARTINEZ-PEREZ, Leonardo Fabio; VARGAS-SANCHEZ, Darwin Leonardo  and  LOPEZ-BOTELLO, Jhennifer Alejandra. Science Clubs: A Discursive Analysis on the Negotiation of Scientific and Technological Meanings at an Interactive Center. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Tecnol. [online]. 2018, n.43, pp.67-90. ISSN 0121-3814.

This research paper aims to characterize the processes of meaning negotiation in a non-formal space, such as the science and technology clubs of the "Maloka" interactive center in Bogotá, more specifically the chemistry club, the robotics club, and the astronomy club. The research addressed in this paper is qualitative and micro ethnographic, and it uses discourse analysis as a methodology to focus on the communicative interactions between participants and tutors of the science clubs. As a result, we were able to classify the communicative interactions into three levels: basic, contextual and critical.

Keywords : negotiation of meanings; language; science museums; interactive science and technology center; informal space.
