AMAYA-DURAN, Laura E; BALLESTEROS DE VALDERRAMA, Blanca Patricia e LOPEZ-LOPEZ, Wilson. The negativity bias and its repercussion in social behavior: the influence of emotion in cooperative conduct. Suma Psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.2, pp.131-138. ISSN 0121-4381.
This study undertook to provide information on the relevance of the tools used to study the influence of emotional conduct in cooperative behavior. It also attempts to present an analysis of the association between the social value orientation (SVO) scale of the slider Emotions measure of social values (Murphy, Handgraaf & Ackermann, 2011) and the results obtained in the prisoner's dilemma game, as well as the study of the ability of two visual stimuli to induce emotional behavior, assessed as negative or positive. The method applied was based on the degree of dependence between the prisoner's dilemma and SVO measurements, and was defined using the Pearson's x2 statistical tool. A pre-post design, the self-assessment manikin (Bradley & Lang, 1994), and a verbal report writing mood, were used in order to assess the ability of audiovisual stimuli for inducing emotional behavior. A total of 48 volunteer university students from different faculties participated in this study. The results were inconclusive as regards the association between measurements of cooperative behavior and social value orientation. The videos evoked the expected emotional behavior.
