POSADA-DIAZ, Esteban D.; ABRIL, Andrea; MOJICA-NAVA, Eduardo A.  e  AGULLES-PEDROS, Luis. LOW FIELD MRI SET UP AND DESIGN FOR NUCLEAR MEDICINE HYBRIDS PURPOSES. Momento [online]. 2018, n.57, pp.16-26. ISSN 0121-4470.  https://doi.org/10.15446/mo.n57.68163.

Low field MRI can be used as potential hybrid complement with Nuclear Medicine devices. This paper presents the design and construction of an experimental set up based on Maxwell coils. The coil arrangement will perform a homogeneous magnetic field as condition required for an ultra low field MRI operation. The homogenization minimize the external noise on the MRI device, while keeping the imaging conditions. GEANT4 simulations were performed to analyze the effect of the coils array over the radioactive material detection. A radiation attenuation of ca. 0.5 % is observed due to the coil arrangement, which practically does not affect the PET quality image since it is close to the error estimation for these kinds of detectors.
