This article describes the state of knowledge about the coronary disease in women from the Department of Nariño. Expert consultation, institutional visits and document review at regional level allowed structuring an overview of the coronary disease in women in contrast with the findings of national and international studies. Likewise, it considers some cultural conceptions conditioning behaviors. It was found that in Nariño an attempt to fill in the research void about the issue is originating from the nurse subject of study.
