This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach that uses the following instruments: Total Family Risk RFT: 6-69 and General Family Health ISF: GEN-25, designed, validated and realized for the Colombian population by Amaya P. (1992-1998-2000 and 2004), with reliability and trust level by international laws. The shape sample by 202 families coming from Bogotá, of institutionalized surgical adults, 928 people, with in adult stage (65%), where the nuclear family (43%) and the average members prevails is four. The families of the study have down risk (88%), half risk (11%), and high risk (1%). The subcategory of greater risk for the families of the study corresponds to the services and practices of health. The family health in 49% is little organized, with high degree of satisfaction in 84%. The results allowed characterizing the families of the study and identifying the characteristics of the people according to their own typology, composition, health security, support networks and classifying the risk in the following categories: family composition, services and practices of health, psychosocial and socioeconomical aspects, house and handing of minors. In familiar health, was identified a degree of systematic organization and satisfaction of these families. Concluding, a down risk requires to generating programs of health promotion and disease prevention with surgical adults families and the item that involve families volume that generate risk warrants to design actions of health liable to diminish it .
