Abstract

This study aims to describe and correlate the nursing staff care quality from the point of view of ICU inpatients in a Level IV institution in the Neiva municipality. Quantitative, descriptive, correlational and transversal study. The sample was made up by 119 impatients in the ICU. EVACALEN (Quality Assesment of Nursing Staff) was the instrument used and prepared by the researchers. Data analysis was performed carrying out statistical methods such as measure of central tendency, frequency chart, general table and Pearson correlation. Conclusions: The category structure gets a poor grade in 17,6% of the cases, regular in 43,7% and good in 38,7%; the category processes gets a poor qualification in 5% and regular in 95%; the category results receives poor qualification in 17,6%, regular in 63% and good in 19,3%. The questionnaire applied to evaluate the quality of the staff nursing care is made up of 44 items; by defining the Cranach’s alpha of the instrument, with a value of 0,848, the validity and reliability to measure nursing staff care quality is confirmed.
