The results were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and measures of central tendency and position. Results: A 67% of participants are in a favorable situation towards adherence, a 29% in a situation of risk towards non-adherence and a 4% in a situation of non-adherence. The three groups in a situation of adherence that were identified vary statistically along the four dimensions that were studied, being Dimension II related to the provider, the one that showed the larger difference. Conclusions: These results highlight that the patient-provider relation is of importance in the degree of adherence that patients, making it necessary for the institution and the health provider and nursing team to emphasize the actions of self-care, support, assistance permanent and guidance to meet their needs and expectations as well as the individual characteristics of the people served
