SOLANO RODRIGUEZ, Yenny Andrea  e  MUNEVAR TORRES, Rosa Yolanda. Teen mother in transit through the hospitalization of her child. av.enferm. [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.2, pp.230-240. ISSN 0121-4500.  https://doi.org/10.15446/av.enferm.v33n2.41839.

The number of teenagers who decide to become mothers has increased and nurses must provide care for these "girls-mothers" who face the hospitalization of their children by complications inherent to this process. Objective: To describe the meaning of the experience for the teen mother son's hospitalization in Neonatal Care Unit in a group of adolescent mothers of Engativá E.S.E. Hospital of Bogotá. Methodology: Ethnonursing was used, with a sample by theoretical saturation, using information provided by eight key informants and six general. Data were collected from June 2011 to July 2012 by means of 22 in-depth interviews, participant observation, field notes, and photographic analysis. The analysis was based on the theory of Madeleine Leininger. Results: 54 codes were identified and 11 patterns, generating four central themes that demonstrated and defined this meaning: Feelings of teen in transit through the hospitalization of a child; The neonatal unit an unknown environment for your child and adolescent; The teenage mother an active participant in the care of their hospitalized child; and Accompanying the child during hospitalization. Conclusions: For a teenager, to have her hospitalized child means immersing her-self in unfamiliar contexts, learn to care with new knowledge, practices limit emic knowledge, life changing feelings and demand various sources of support. Some aspects are similar to other mothers and own them, justifying specific nursing care.
