Objective: To understand how spirituality is adopted by members of the team of oncological Programa de Internação Domiciliar Interdisciplinar (PIDI) in palliative care. Methodology: Qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study, based on Vygotsky's Cultural-Historical Theory. The survey was composed for all members of the interdisciplinary team; in total, eight subjects. The data were collected through focus groups in five meetings from February to May of 2009. Results: Two topics emerged from data analysis: Palliative care and spirituality, and The spirituality and the dying process. Professionals regarded spirituality as a way to promote reflection and acceptance of death and its relevance in palliative actions. Conclusion: We realize that this team exhibited its willingness to understand and embrace the spirituality during the implementation of palliative care to people in the dying process.
