Abstract

Objective: To identify the factors that sway the loneliness of the elderly. Methodology: Descriptive and quantitative research carried out with 94 elderly people under Res. cns 466/12. A form was used, divided into two parts: the first one contained sociodemographic data; the second one consisted of significant issues of the subject matter. Results: Most subjects in the sample were between 70 and 79 years old (52.13%); it consisted of women (87.23%), standing the illiteracy out (42.55%). It is found that 78.73% of them lived with their families; 55.32% reported not feeling alone and 79.79% did not live alone. A significant number of elderly from this study (75.53%) did not feel excluded from society; only 15.96% has lonely feeling. Conclusion: The data resulting shows that it is fundamental to create living groups for elderly, inasmuch as these activities promote the physical, mental and socialwell-being, making them forget possible moments of solitude.
