Abstract

RODRIGUEZ HOLGUIN, Yanira Astrid. Contribution of convergent ethics to the teaching of bioethics for research. av.enferm. [online]. 2018, vol.36, n.3, pp.347-354. ISSN 0121-4500.  https://doi.org/10.15446/av.enferm.v36n3.70247.

Objective:

Perform an analysis of the modes of application of the theory of convergent ethics to reason the bioethical conflicts that can be generated in research.

Content synthesis:

This reflection article presents a reasoning about the possibility of teaching bioethics for research based on the theory formulated by the philosopher Ricardo Maliandi, the convergent ethics, which is a proposal in light of the conflict. It is proposed to teach from the concepts and principles derived from this theory, to facilitate the achievement of bioethical abilities in students who perform research at different levels of professional training in health areas, to anticipate them to address the tension between principles bioethics and guide them so that they can propose possible ways to attenuate or balance the conflicts in the research process. The reflection arose after a previous stage of review about the teaching-learning practices of bioethics and the thorough revision of the convergent theory, which allowed to see the benefits of this in the student's bioethics training, preparing them to identify and resolve bioethical conflicts in their research practice.

Conclusion:

The theory of convergence allows to achieve reflection, understanding, argumentation, critical capacity and creative deliberation to make responsible decisions when the bioethical conflicts arise to the students, which is a useful alternative in the practice of bioethics for the research.
