Abstract

CUBIDES CIPAGAUTA, Fernando. Santa Fe De Ralito: Vicissitudes And Incongruities Of A Negotiation Attempt . anal.polit. [online]. 2005, vol.18, n.53, pp.88-94. ISSN 0121-4705.

This article proposes a revision of the paramilitarism phenomena starting from two key elements: power and land. Unlike other analysts and social researchers that center the explanation of paramilitarism in the disputes around the agrarian property, the author considers that the question of the land is tied to the definition of a political project of local character. To illustrate it, the examples of the emerald zone and Barrancabermeja , where the paramilitary territorial control is defined in function of a vocation for local and regional powers are presented. Is this conjunction which keeps the cohesion of such groups in spite of fissures and tensions and even of the real or virtual disappearance of Carlos Castaño.

Keywords : paramilitarism; power; territory; Colombia.
